School Closings or Delays...
The following information is related to school closings or delays due to snow
and other emergencies. Decisions regarding the closing of Aspire Programs
will usually occur no earlier than 6:30 a.m.

Closings or delays will be announced or displayed as “Aspire Programs.” We
consider local school district actions in making our decision to close.
In the event that road conditions become worse after the children have
arrived at school, we will most likely not dismiss early.
Please keep in mind that transportation companies are independent of our
school. We ask that transporters communicate directly with you as well as our
school in the event of any problems. You should also speak directly to these
companies if you have questions.
Sick Student Policy...
If your child will be absent from school...
~ Notify your transportation company and our secretary that your child is not
coming to school.
~ Absence excuses are required when your child returns to school, whether or
not we have had previous notification by telephone.
~ Contact our secretary as soon as possible when your child has been
diagnosed with a contagious condition.
~ We will contact you if your child is absent and we have not heard from you.
Your child should stay home if...
~ Your child has a fever. Your child should not return to school until he/she
has been free of fever for 24 hours.
~ Your child has heavy congestion or a persistent cough, even though there is
no fever.
~ Your child has a sore throat accompanied by a fever or white spots in the
back of the throat.
~ Your child is vomiting.
~ Your child has diarrhea.
~ Your child has any unusual skin rash. Your child should be kept home until
diagnosed by a physician.
While at school, if your child develops a fever, vomiting or diarrhea you will be
called to come get your child. If we are unable to contact you, we will use the
emergency numbers you have provided.
Child Evaluation Information...
Aspire Programs conducts evaluations under the guidelines established by
New York State to help parents determine the extent of their child's delay and
the type of help needed for their child.
How to refer a child:
For children ages 3-5 years: contact your local school district and ask for the
Committee on Preschool Special Education. (CPSE)
For children under 3 years old: contact your County Department of Health and
ask for the Early Intervention Program. (IE)
CPSE Evaluations...
Aspire Programs provides the following types of CPSE evaluations:
~ Initial Multidisciplinary Evaluations
~ Transition Evaluations - from Early Intervention to CPSE
~ Supplemental Evaluations - Speech/Language, Occupational and Physical
therapies
Multidisciplinary and Transition Evaluations are conducted on site and include:
~ Parent/Professional collaboration
~ Behavioral observations
~ Social, medical and family history
~ Developmental assessment (a psychological and/or educational evaluation)
~ Speech and Language, Occupational and/or Physical Therapy assessment
when necessary
~ A conference with the family to discuss results
~ A written summary of the evaluation results provided immediately upon
completion
Following the evaluation: a comprehensive written report describing the
child's developmental levels including strengths and weaknesses.
